MV Agusta’s flagship street bike, the Brutale 1000 RR has been updated for 2021. This model year sees a Euro 5 emissions update as well as upgrades to the electronics. MV Agusta’s Brutale 1000 RR is the Italian firm’s superbly refined naked superbike powered by a totally revised edition of the 79mm bore by 50.9mm stroke, 998cc MV Agusta four.
Apart from being Euro 5 compliant, it also gets new sintered valve pipes, DLC coated tappets, and a slightly redesigned exhaust. However, despite adjusting to the strict emission norms, the motorcycle continues to churn out a maniacal 205bhp and 116.5Nm. The redesigned exhaust system helps clean up emissions, while a new cam profile aims to shift the torque cover lower down the rev range.
MV Agusta claims the Brutale 1000 RR presents an execution of absolute excellence down to every component. Öhlins provided all the suspension units: an Öhlins NIX EC 43mm fork, an Öhlins TTX EC rear shock absorber attached to the highly distinctive single-sided swingarm, and finally an Öhlins EC steering damper. All the units are electronically controlled in semi-active mode, which means they do not offer an “automatic” function based on the riding style or the road conditions, but rather they demand that the rider selects the level of response depending on the type of riding.
Brakes are provided by Brembo with twin 320mm rotors and Stylema four-piston calipers. Needless to say that the brakes are ABS modulated. The steel tubing trellis frame is strong and compact, featuring a 55.7-inch wheelbase, with a 24-degree rake and 3.8-inch trail. The bike rolls on Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tires sized 120/70-17 at the front and 200/55-17 at the rear.
The 5-inch TFT screen of the instrumentation acts as a multifunction connectivity center offering Bluetooth interface to smartphones and also acts as a navigation system. In all, the Brutale 1000 RR marks a dramatic evolution in the quality of MV Agusta models. The Brutale 1000 RR is a 300-km/h-capable naked superbike that offers very good flexibility and comfort. A great combination. The 2021 Brutale 1000 RR has already been launched in Europe. It can be had in two colors, and prices start from €32,000.
